China's medical X-ray equipment market will maintain strong growth
InMedica's recent report on the China Medical X-ray Equipment Market highlights a strong outlook for the sector, projecting that the market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.3%, reaching a value of $9.73 billion. This growth is being driven primarily by the Chinese government's focus on improving healthcare infrastructure and advancing the digitalization of hospital equipment.

Over 80% of DR products in the market today are supplied by these global players. Third-tier hospitals, which have stringent requirements for equipment quality and performance, are less likely to choose domestic alternatives. As a result, local manufacturers tend to focus on lower-end markets where price competitiveness is a key factor.
In China, building strong customer relationships is crucial for success. Many manufacturers rely heavily on agent networks to distribute their products, with approximately 85% of X-ray machine sales coming through these channels. The Shanghai Medical Device Industry Association supports this trend, emphasizing the importance of local partnerships in navigating the competitive landscape.
As the market evolves, both domestic and international players will need to adapt to changing demands, with a growing emphasis on innovation, affordability, and strategic distribution channels.
