…at a local softball game last weekend. Honestly, it’s one of those events where you can’t help but feel the energy buzzing around. My husband and his teammates were out there giving it their all—men and women alike! It’s always inspiring to see people come together for something they love.

Meanwhile, yours truly was stationed safely behind the chain-link fence. I’ll admit, hard balls and I don’t exactly get along. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a collection of bruises—and I’m totally okay with cheering them on from a distance. Safety first, right?

Team Huddle

But man, those players were fully geared up and ready to go. Helmets, bats, gloves—it’s a whole production. Watching them suit up feels almost ceremonial. Honestly, though, I think some of the best moments happen *outside* the field. Like when the kids start blowing bubbles while waiting for their parents’ turn to bat.

Bubble Blowing

There’s also this adorable little mascot running around. Seriously, how do they manage to look so cute in oversized costumes? And let’s not forget the food. Nachos, popcorn, ice cream—it’s basically a buffet of happiness. Not to mention catching up with friends who show up just as excited as if they’re about to step onto the diamond themselves.

Snacks Galore

Truth be told, I probably didn’t pay too much attention to the actual game. I mean, did we win? Probably. But honestly, by the time someone hit that final home run, I was too busy laughing over some ridiculous joke or snacking on cotton candy to notice. And hey, isn’t that what counts? The experience, the community, the sheer joy of being part of something bigger than yourself?

Mascot Fun

So yeah, I use the word “we” pretty loosely here. Sure, my husband played. But me? I stayed firmly planted in my lawn chair, cheering (or maybe pretending to cheer) from afar. At least I got some great photos and managed to keep my dignity intact—no broken bones this time!

Signature

Anyway, life’s about balance, right? Sometimes you’re in the thick of it, and sometimes you’re happily chilling on the sidelines. Either way, it’s all part of the adventure.
