The Teacher Gift
This week feels like "Back to School Week" around here because there’s just so much to talk about. I’ve been itching to write about it all but figured it’d take multiple posts to cover everything properly. Let’s kick things off with something really exciting—Aliyah started kindergarten! Can you believe it? I’m still riding the emotional wave of pride, relief, and sheer joy as a mom. She came home today glowing, and her teacher greeted me with a big smile saying, “She’s amazing!†Now, as a parent, you tend to take those words at face value, right? So I’m choosing to believe Aliyah truly is awesome.
Anyway, whenever a new chapter begins, especially involving someone who will play such a crucial role in your child's life, it feels natural to mark the occasion with a thoughtful gesture. Enter the teacher gift! It’s something my family enjoys doing—it’s all about making people feel valued and appreciated.
Last week, while getting ready for school, I stumbled upon some creative teacher gift ideas. But then something funny happened—a conversation with Chris (my husband) went like this:
Me: “We need to get a little something for Aliyah’s teacher. I don’t want her to be the only kid without a gift.â€
Chris: “Really? Since when did this become a thing?â€
Me: “The Internet.â€
Chris: *sighs*
Yeah, the Internet is officially a person now. Or at least someone I can conveniently blame. Turns out, not every parent follows this tradition, but hey, Aliyah loves creating little surprises for others, so we were all in.
We started with a travel mug Chris had picked up earlier and added some personal touches—individual lemonade mixes, a Starbucks gift card, a pack of colorful markers, and a batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and let’s not forget the cutest part: printable tags we attached to both the mug and the cookies.
Check out how adorable these turned out! The “Thirsty†tag and the “Smart Cookie†tag were such a hit. They’re simple yet meaningful. You could even skip the mug and just focus on the cookies—they’re always a crowd-pleaser. If you'd like, I’m happy to share the printables. Just click here for the "Cookie" printable and here for the "Thirsty" printable.

It’s such a small gesture, but it means a lot to us. Aliyah gets excited about making others smile, and it’s moments like these that remind me how lucky we are to be parents.
Wishing everyone a fantastic start to the school year! Stay tuned for more updates soon. Until next time, take care!
