There’s something about the way my four-year-old talks that just warms my heart. I swear, every single word out of his mouth feels like pure gold. Between the sing-songy tone, those expressive eyebrows, and the occasional cheeky sideways glance, it’s impossible not to laugh. I’ve even started jotting down some of the most adorable things he says—call them Braydenisms. They’re little gems that remind me how magical childhood really is.

Just the other day, he told me, “When I grow up, I’m going to be a dad. But first, I need to cut my hair shorter.” It made me wonder what kind of dad he’d be one day—would he keep his promises? Then there was the time he responded to my request to tidy up his room with, “Okay! I’ll make it the best room in the city!” Can you imagine? A whole city ruled by his room? Genius.

And then there’s his knack for turning everything into a comparison. When I was putting some cream in his hair, he said, “Oh, so it’s like lotion? That means you have two kinds of lotion—body lotion and hair lotion!” Who knew hair care could lead to such philosophical discussions?

One moment that really stuck with me was when he asked, “Mom, are we living in your life or in my life right now? Whose life are we living in?” Talk about deep thoughts from a four-year-old! It reminded me how much kids see the world differently—and how they remind us to think twice before we dismiss their questions.

On another occasion, he compared Dad to Mr. Incredible. “Dad is like Mr. Incredible because he’s already super strong, but we don’t have our powers yet. I’m pretty fast though. If I keep practicing, I think I can run on water.” This kid has big dreams, and I love how confident he is about them.

And let’s not forget his sweet observation about memories: “Mama, when it’s tomorrow, we’ll have rememberies of today.” How profound is that? It’s moments like this that make me cherish every second with him.

As I sit here typing this, I can’t help but smile thinking about all the laughter and joy he brings into our lives. He’s not just growing up—he’s teaching me to slow down and appreciate the little things along the way.

I hope you feel the same warmth reading this as I do writing it. Maybe next time you hear something funny or insightful from your own little ones, you’ll share it too. After all, parenting is full of these little moments worth holding onto.
