Long-chain non-coding RNA function in the development of liver cancer July 07, 2015 Source: Bio Valley At the 2014 Tumor-Transformation Medicine Symposium, Professor Sun gave a wonderful speech on “Study on the function of long-chain non-coding RNA in the development of liver cancerâ€. Professor Sun Shuhan is currently the director of the Department of Medical Genetics at the Second Military Medical University, the director of the National Key Discipline of Genetics, the director of the National Key Laboratory of Medical Molecular Genetics, and the director of the Institute of Genetics of the Second Military Medical University. Professor Sun’s speech video has been uploaded to Xunyun College for exchange learning. Primary hepatocellular carcinoma (hereinafter referred to as hepatocellular carcinoma, HCC) is one of the common malignant tumors in China. Further exploration of the relationship between the function of new genes and the occurrence and development of liver cancer is of great significance for revealing the precise molecular mechanism of the occurrence and development of liver cancer, designing rational therapeutic drugs and judging the prognosis, and further improving the therapeutic level of liver cancer in China. In recent years, the role of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) in physiological and disease processes has gradually attracted widespread attention. lncRNA is a type of non-coding RNA molecule of more than 200 nt in length. These RNAs do not encode proteins or just encode very short polypeptides. At first they were thought to be the "noise" of genomic transcription and did not have biological functions. However, more and more studies have shown that lncRNA is involved in important processes in signal transduction processes such as genomic imprinting, transcriptional control, post-transcriptional regulation, and protein function regulation. It also plays an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors, providing a new perspective for comprehensive understanding of tumors. We have done a lot of work on the regulatory network and clinical significance of lncRNA involvement in the development of liver cancer. It was found that lncRNA differentially expressed in tissues of liver cancer can completely distinguish cancer tissues from adjacent tissues, indicating that there is a characteristic expression profile of lncRNA in cancer tissues. The lncRNA molecules with important functions in the development of HCC, such as lncRNA-LET, lncRNA-HEIH, lncRNA-MVIH, were cloned and identified, and the expression and clinical significance of these molecules in liver cancer tissue samples were analyzed. The influence of learning function, the location of subcellular organelles in liver cancer cells, and interaction molecules have been discussed in depth. Our results show that lncRNA can be used as a new target for diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of liver cancer.
