Key points of pest control technology in early flowering period of pepper
At present, the pepper plants are in their initial flowering stage. According to recent field inspections, the main diseases and pests affecting peppers are known as the "three diseases and two insects," which include pepper blight, viral disease, anthracnose, cotton bollworm, and tobacco budworm. It is crucial to implement early prevention measures and follow scientifically controlled, environmentally friendly practices to manage these issues effectively.
1. **Pepper Blight**
- Apply 5% chlorothalonil dust at a rate of 1 kg per 667 m² every 7 days for 2-3 applications.
- At the early stages of infection, spray with 64% Oxadixyl WP diluted at 500 times, or 58% Mancozeb Manganese Zinc WP at 500 times, and 70% Trisodium Phosphate 500 times.
- In the middle to late stages, when the central disease strain is detected, apply 50% Metconazole wettable powder at 800 times, 72.2% Pyraclostrobin 600-800 times, 64% Oxadixyl WP at 500 times, or 58% Mancozeb Manganese Zinc wettable powder at 500 times. At the same time, water the roots of infected plants to enhance effectiveness.
2. **Pepper Virus Disease**
- Early control of aphids is essential. Use 10% Imidacloprid WP at 1500 times, 25% Acetamiprid water-dispersible granules at 5000-10000 times, or 40% Emamectin Benzoate EC at 1000-2000 times.
- At the onset of the disease, spray 20% Virazole WP at 400 times, or 1.5% Triazophos emulsion at 1000 times. Repeat every 7-10 days for 3-4 applications.
3. **Chili Anthracnose**
- Spray 2-4 times before and after the disease occurs. Commonly used fungicides include 50% Thiophanate-Methyl at 500-800 times, 50% Carbendazim WP at 800-1000 times, and 70% Mancozeb WP at 600-800 times.
4. **Cotton Bollworm**
- When the number of eggs per 100 leaves reaches 20-30, use 200 times Bt Emulsion, 3000 times Avermectin EC (1.8%), 5% Sulfuricin EC at 2500 times, or 50% Phoxim EC at 1000 times.
5. **Tobacco Budworm**
- When 10% of the pepper seedlings are infested, take immediate action. Options include 50% Phoxim EC, 50% Chlorpyrifos EC, 40% Acephate EC, or 80% Trichlorfon soluble powder at 1000 times. Alternatively, use 2.5% Deltamethrin EC, 20% Fenvalerate EC, 2.5% Kavancin EC, 5% Cypermethrin (Laurel) EC, or 10% Cypermethrin EC at 2000 times. Additionally, use adult traps to capture and eliminate adults, and manually collect them in the morning every 5-10 days.
