About duck egg preservation method

<

After the egg is laid out, the development of the embryo stops, and then the embryo develops again under the stimulation of a certain external environment. The critical temperature for embryonic development is 23.9°C. Storage temperature below this limit, the embryo is in dormant state, otherwise it develops. Despite limited development, due to cellular metabolism, it gradually leads to embryo aging and death. The collected eggs are often not hatched in time and need to be kept for some time. If the preservation conditions are poor and the method of preservation is unreasonable, the quality of the eggs will also be reduced and the hatching rate will be affected. Therefore, the requirements for environment, temperature, humidity, and time should be properly preserved in order to preserve the quality of the eggs. The preservation conditions of eggs are mainly considered in the following aspects:

1. Temperature

Temperature is the most important condition for preserving eggs. The optimum temperature for egg preservation is 10-15°C. Use 15°C for less than 7 days and 11°C for more than 7 days. If the temperature is below 0°C, the egg will lose its ability to hatch due to freezing. Therefore, the preservation temperature of the eggs before hatching cannot be too high or too low.

2 humidity

The water inside the egg continuously evaporates through the pores on the shell. Preserving the eggs with low humidity will accelerate the evaporation of water in the eggs, increase the air chamber, and the weight loss of the eggs will affect the hatching rate. If the humidity is too high, the egg surface will be resurged and the eggs will be easy to mold. The appropriate relative humidity for duck preserved eggs should be kept at 70%-80%.

Turn the egg

In order to prevent the adhesion of the blastoderm to the eggshell and to avoid affecting the quality of the eggs and the early death of the embryos, it is not necessary to turn the eggs within one week of preservation, and once per week for more than one week. When you turn the egg, just change the angle of the egg, for example, change the angle of the egg rack.

4. Ventilation

Keep the room where the eggs are kept well-ventilated, clean and free of special odors. Eggs are also protected from direct sunlight, mosquitoes and flies.

5. Save time

The preservation time of eggs is inversely proportional to the hatching rate, ie the longer the preservation time, the lower the hatching rate. The preservation time of eggs can be determined according to climate and storage conditions. It is better not to exceed 7 days in spring, 5 days in summer and 10 days in winter.

6. Adjustment of saving conditions

In the course of continuous production of ducks, in addition to changes in size and egg weight, the structure of the ducklings also undergoes changes in the curve, especially eggshells and egg whites. According to the physical characteristics of the eggs, the egg-laying cycle of the female ducks is divided into three periods, namely the pre-laying period, mid-production period, and late-laying period. According to the different egg production period, different storage conditions can be used to fully develop the hatching potential of the eggs.

(1) Pre-laying. The soon-to-be-opened or opened soon, the egg shape is smaller, but the calcium intake peaks when the egg production rate is between 45% and 55%. Therefore, during this period, the eggshell was thick, the pigment was deposited deeper, and there was a good plastic film. However, the protein was thick at this stage and was not easily degraded. The hatching eggs show high rates of early stillbirth during hatching, poor quality of the ducklings, relatively long incubation time, and a high proportion of late embryos that cannot be hatched after being husked. Eggs stored at this stage can be stored for a long time. Longer storage time can improve the hatching rate. If only 1 to 3 days are stored, the stored humidity should be reduced and should not exceed 50% to 60%.

(2) Mid-term egg production. During the laying period, eggshell thickness, plastic film and protein quality are the best. For the eggs at this stage, the storage conditions of the eggs with a storage period of less than one week, a temperature of 18°C and a relative humidity of 75% are suitable. For more than 1 week of storage, the storage temperature must be lowered and the humidity must be increased to achieve good results.

(3) Late egg production. Compared with the early and middle stages, the gelatinous properties of the protein have been weakened, and the eggshell has also become thinner. If the egg is stored for a long time, the egg is likely to lose water in the early stage of incubation, resulting in a high rate of early stillbirth. The suggested storage time for the rear egg-laying period should not exceed 5 days, reduce the storage temperature, keep at about 15°C, and increase the storage relative humidity to 80%. In short, the shelf life of eggs during this period should be as short as possible.
