Scientific application of potash should master five principles

<

Potassium is one of the three major nutrients necessary for crop growth and development. In order to improve the application effect of potash fertilizer, in addition to paying attention to the application of potash fertilizer with nitrogen and phosphate fertilizer, special attention should also be paid to the following five principles:
1. Apply to hi potassium crops. Different types of crops require different potassium characteristics. Legume crops are the most sensitive to potassium and increase production significantly after application. Carbohydrate-containing potato crops, sugar-rich beet, watermelon, and fruit trees, etc., and cash crops such as cotton and tobacco require more potassium. Gramineous corn is the most sensitive to potassium, while potassium fertilizer is applied to rice, wheat, etc., and the yield increase is relatively small. Therefore, when using potassium fertilizer, farmers' friends should apply potassium to the potassium-bearing crops preferentially according to their potassium requirements. For example, if potassium is added to corn, the grains will be full, and if cotton is applied, potassium will prevent premature aging of the plants.
2. Apply to potassium-depleted soil. Potassium content in the soil and potash supply capacity determine the potash fertilizer efficiency. The soil with low potassium supply is susceptible to potassium deficiency, and the sand soil with coarse soil texture has better potassium application efficiency. Therefore, potassium fertilizer should be applied preferentially to this soil to meet the demand of potassium for crop growth and development, so as to obtain better economic benefits. Potassium application rates should also be increased for root or tuber crops.
3. Apply to high yielding fields. After the increase of crop yield, each harvest will take a large amount of potassium from the soil, causing the soil to lose potassium. If it is not supplemented in time, it will obviously affect the yield, and it will become a constraint factor of the crop's high yield to a certain extent. Therefore, potash fertilizer should be mainly applied to high-yield fields in order to give full play to its role in increasing production.
4. According to the characteristics of potash fertilizer reasonable application. Potassium fertilizer has a low mobility in soil and should be used as a base fertilizer and applied to a dense soil layer. For sandy soil, half of the basal fertilizer can be used, and half can be topdressed. Potassium fertilizer should be applied as soon as possible, but if it is applied too late, the fertilizer effect will be poor. Because the general crop needs a large amount of potassium in the early stage of growth, and less potassium is needed in the later period, mainly due to the redistribution of nutrients in the organs, so the application of potassium in the later stage is not as good as the previous stage.
5. According to the environmental conditions and the application of potassium levels with nitrogen, phosphorus application. When the crop encounters severe growth conditions such as low temperature, drought, and serious pests and diseases, such as the timely application of potash fertilizer, the resistance of the crop can be improved to obtain better yield.
