1. Site selection Site selection is best for the sunny, warm and humid, well-ventilated, loamy soil containing a moderate amount of sand. Temperatures below 0C should be cultivated in pots or facilities.
2. Propagation methods include seed propagation, tiller propagation, and burying methods.
(1) Seed-producing Seeds are harvested at the end of autumn and matured. Seeds are sown in spring. Because the seed coat is hard and the germination is slow, the place where high temperature is sunny should be selected. Seeds can be seeded on a single spot with a spot distance of 20-25 cm. Keep it above 15°C and germinate after 5-6 months. Only seedlings that have been cultivated for 2-3 years can be transplanted.
(2) The climatic conditions of tillering and breeding are suitable for the southern part of the growth of cycads. Old trees over 20 years old are selected and managed well, and they can bloom every June to August. In cold northern countries, potted plants are used for cultivation, and the male and female plants are not easily flowered at the same time. Therefore, it is difficult to obtain seeds, and it is more convenient to adopt a tillering propagation method. Cut out the axillary buds from the big tree, bury it in a suitable amount of sandstone loam, and put it in a half shade. Put a flowerpot on the top of the bud to protect it from shading. After the leaves have been removed, the pots are removed and placed on shaded areas. Gradually light up and wait until they are fully adapted to move to sunny places.
(3) Buried burrowing The burying method is to cut dry stems into 10-15cm thick pieces and bury them in sandy loam, so that most new shoots will be sent from the surroundings and transplanted. Use this method to ban pouring water, or rot.
Transplanting: Transplanting in spring every April. Potted sandy loam and horseshoe shells or crushed iron scraps are used as basal fertilizer, or with tri-soil, stove ash, loess and loam.
3. Field management The cycads are cultivated in open field and the temperature in winter is low. Below 0 degrees, cycads can be used to wrap up with the straw. When the spring season is over, when the new leaves are sprouted, cut the yellow leaves. Normally no fertilizer is needed. However, in order to maintain the green and glossy leaves, oil cakes and iron-containing fertilizers such as black water (Fe2S04) can be used. Potted plants shall be poured with sufficient liquid fertilizer and water in the summer, and black muddy water shall be added. In order to supplement the nutrient of the potted soil, it may also be applied to the manure and bean cakes, and the fertilizer may be recovered once or twice every year in 1-2 months. The method is to Dig a ditch around the earth around the pots and cover the soil with fertilizer. In the spring and summer, when the season grows, it is watered. After the fall, it is less poured. It is kept dry to a certain degree. It is conducive to wintering. In November, the frost falls into the pit and is placed in a sunny place where no fire is required. Usually a small amount of water poured, the second year in April out of the pit, you can pour fertilizer. Potted plants are generally changed for 2-3 years according to the growth of roots.
