Broiler 50-day slaughter technique

<

The key to improving the economic efficiency of broiler production lies in accelerating growth and shortening the rearing cycle. Effective feeding and management practices are essential for achieving this goal. When chicks hatch, they should be fed within 8 to 12 hours. A basic starter feed formula includes: 65% cornmeal, 15% wheat bran, 15% chopped wheat, 5% soybean meal, plus 3 boiled eggs (for 100 chicks), 0.4% oxytetracycline, and a moderate amount of brown sugar. Multivitamins can also be added as needed. For the first 5 to 8 days, switch to a mix of 3 parts ground rice, 1 part soybean meal, 0.1 part sunflower seed meal, 0.02 part salt, along with appropriate levels of oxytetracycline and multivitamins. It’s best to provide water before food. On the first day, offer either 0.01% potassium permanganate solution or 10% sugar water. For the first 15 days, use warm, clean water free from impurities. Temperature control is crucial during the early stages. The temperature should be maintained at 34°C for the first 4 days, then reduced to 32°C between days 5 and 7. After that, lower it by 2°C each week until reaching 20°C. Humidity should be kept at 65–70% for the first two weeks and 55–60% thereafter. Stocking density is important too: 40–25 chicks per square meter for the first 1–2 weeks, and 25–15 for 3–4 weeks. Provide 23 hours of light per day, with 1 hour of darkness at night to help regulate their sleep cycle. Vaccination is an essential part of health management. At 1–3 days old, administer a subcutaneous injection of the large chicken virus vaccine, excluding Marek’s disease. At 7–10 days old, apply nasal drops for chicken lice, and repeat the treatment at 30 days. As the chickens grow, typically around 1 kg, they should be sorted based on age, size, and strength for better management. During this phase, the soybean meal in the feed can be reduced to 0.8 parts, while decreasing the amount of multivitamins and eliminating oxytetracycline. To enhance meat quality and growth, several fattening methods can be applied. First, 10 days before sale, add boiled pork bone soup to the feed for detoxification. At 4 weeks of age, introduce 2–3% oil into the feed, gradually increasing it to 6–8%. Methionine supplementation at 0.14% in the feed can also support growth. For herbal fattening, use the following mixtures: In summer, 12% pepper, 23% licorice, 7% fennel, 28% Wujiapi, and 12% iron sulfate. In winter, 24% ginger powder, 50% cinnamon, 9% gentian, 8% fennel, and 9% iron sulfate. After grinding the herbs, mix them into the feed at a rate of 0.5–1 gram per chicken every other day. By implementing these comprehensive feeding and management strategies, farmers can significantly improve broiler performance, health, and profitability.
