As the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day “two-day festival” approached, all kinds of commodities on the market in our province began to not calm down, prices have risen, and especially the retail price of Baiji Chicken has hit a new high in seven years.

More than 70% of commodity prices rose last week. According to information released by the provincial Department of Commerce last week, the prices of daily necessities in the market showed that the market for necessities of life in our province was running smoothly last week, with prices of more than 70% of commodities rising. Specifically, of the 60 commodities monitored, 43 prices rose, accounting for 71.7%; 6 prices remained flat, accounting for 10%; 11 prices fell, accounting for 18.3%. Among them, the prices of food, edible oil, pork, poultry, eggs, vegetables, aquatic products and fruits rose slightly.

Last week, the retail price of grain in our province rose by 0.38% from the previous week. At present, there is sufficient supply of grain in our province. It is expected that grain prices in the province will continue to be stable in the later period, accompanied by slight upward pressure.

Bottled edible oil retail prices also continued to rise slightly. Last week, the retail price of barreled cooking oil in our province rose 0.46% over the previous week. With the arrival of the season of edible oil sales for the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day, market buying and selling tends to be active. It is expected that the price of edible oil in the province will face upward pressure again in the later period.

At the same time, with the gradual delisting of vegetables in the summer, the supply of vegetables has temporarily decreased slightly, and prices have started to rise. Last week, the wholesale price of vegetables in our province increased by 11.73% from the previous week.

Since the sales of bananas in Hainan are at the end of the current period, together with Guangxi's bananas, it will only be listed in October, resulting in fewer bananas currently, and banana prices have risen. Affected by this, last week's wholesale price of fruits in our province rose 3.93% from the previous week.

The retail price of white broilers hit a record high for 7 years. The retail price of pork in our province rose by 0.17% from the previous week. The retail price of lean meat and pork rose by 0.16% and 0.5% respectively. At present, the amount of pigs produced in our province has steadily increased and the pork market has sufficient supply. However, due to the coming Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, the market demand will gradually increase. It is expected that the price of pork in our province will still have slight upward pressure.

It is worth noting that the retail price of poultry eggs continued to rise slightly last week. The retail price of white broilers rose by 0.84% ​​from the previous week, and the retail price of eggs rose by 1.85% from the previous week.

At present, the average retail price of white striped chicken in our province is 15.58 yuan/kg, which is a year-on-year increase of 25.44%, and has exceeded the historic high point of 13.89 yuan/kg since 2004. There are several main factors that have caused chicken meat prices to rise to new heights: the growing cost of broiler chickens has helped boost the retail price of white broilers; the decrease in the number of broiler chickens has led to a reduction in supply; the increase in pork prices has increased the demand for alternative consumption of broilers. It is expected that the price of Baiji chicken in our province will continue to rise.
